Indian all-rounder Nishant Sindhu has completed his recovery after being diagnosed with coronavirus, reports PTI. As a result, he will be available for the U19 World Cup semi-final clash against Australia.

The Indian camp at the U19 World Cup had been hamstrung by a series of COVID-19 infections ahead of the side’s second group stage fixture. Several players, including captain Yash Dhull, had tested positive and Sindhu was appointed as the stand-in skipper for the matches against Ireland and Uganda.

Dhull, Shaik Rasheed, Manav Parakh, Siddharth Yadav and Aaradhya Yadav all made quick recoveries after contracting the virus and tested negative ahead of the quarter-final against Bangladesh U19, which made them eligible for selection.

However, Sindhu tested positive ahead of the fixture and had to miss the game as a result. The 17-year-old is now proven negative and is back with the team once again, and the Boys in Blue will have a full squad available for the first time in a few weeks as they prepare to face Australia in the semi-final.

“All (Indian players) are available for selection for the Australia game. (Nishant) Sindhu has tested negative,”

an ICC source informed PTI about the development.

The Indian U19 bowling unit ran riot against Bangladesh in the quarter-final of the World Cup. Ravi Kumar picked up three wickets in no time to suffocate the opposition batting order while Vicky Ostwal and the rest piled on the pressure. As a result, Bangladesh were bundled out for 111 in 37.1 overs.

Despite losing opener Harnoor Singh for a duck, the run-chase proved to be quite comfortable and straightforward for Team India. Angkrish Raghuvanshi, Rasheed and Dhull played valuable knocks to secure a five-wicket win for the team and confidence will be high in the camp after an ecstatic win.

“Our team combination has been very good and the boys are gelling well. Whenever someone is down, we all get together to bring them up. It is a lifetime experience here.

“The team is improving day by day. Laxman sir is giving his experience, gives us a lot of help in the middle. We will look at the semis on the day of the match depending on how the wicket is,”

Dhull was quoted after the match as per Crictaker.
